Jessica Mar

October 18, 2020

Jessica Mar has always been drawn to the performing arts. She was involved in musical theater productions as early as age five and began studying classical violin when she was nine. In her angsty early-teenage years, she taught herself guitar to help accompany her own songwriting. When she was 16, she combined these talents to sing lead vocals and play fiddle in a bluegrass band in her hometown of Wichita, Kansas. Jessica moved to California to attend Chapman University. After graduating, she headed to LA to fully focus on her music and has since been working consistently as a songwriter. Her past musical experiences have all contributed to Mar as an artist today.

With a unique combination of pop-rock and soul, Mar delivers a modern take on a classic sound that can be compared to artists such as Elle King, Bishop Briggs, and Alessia Cara.

She draws musical inspiration from a wide variety of artists, including Glass Animals, The Black Keys, Grouplove, Janis Joplin, and Etta James. With the influence of these legends and many more, Jessica Mar is currently hard at work in the studio, diligently finessing and finalizing the debut album. You can expect more genre-blending pieces from Jessica Mar early 2021.
